For me, Laker.
Freddie Laker was a true aviation pioneer; at least his inspiration is alive and well in Richard Branson's Virgin Atlantic.

Service was good, too.

Honorable mention goes to Air Florida. I flew them to London in 1983 and the service was the best I have experienced to date.

It is hard to imagine a world where a trail blazer like Pan Am isn't still flying. I wouldn't care to see them come back in a limited way just to have their name on a few planes though.

Many think the golden age of aviation died on 9/11. I think the golden age died during the time when global giants like Pan Am, and TWA, lost their luster.
