Can anybody give an update on the future of the Ex-TWA Terminal at New Yorks JFK Airport? Is JetBlue still interested to take it over or was that just a rumor? Are the conference-center plans off the table?

The last word I was on this from the NY-NJ Port Authority was that it is going to sit, empty, for some time to come. It cannot be torn down (due to its status on the National Historical Register) and right now, there aren't a bunch of airlines expanding anywhere, much less at JFK. Too bad! I remember sitting in that terminal in 1970, waiting to start the European portion of my round-the-world trip, and being fascinated (I was a kid then) watching the arrival and departure board change. Funny, the things we remember and were fascinated with! (slight sigh!)

I wouldn't be surprised to see Jet Blue move in sometime in the future. Out of all the airlines out there they really are the best candidate. Might not happen for a while, but if they keep up with their track record they’re going to need the space. With some updates and reconstruction T5 could once again be a shinning symbol for commercial aviation.

B6 would not want to operate out of T-5, nor do I think the PA wants anyone to fly out of their no more.
It's very small and cramped, it would not suit someone like B6 very well. If B6 needed more gates they could lease some from British Airways T-7, which was recently refurbished.
T-5 even in it's glory offered almost nil amenities one would find in Modern airports, is notalgic, not functional.
EWR's orginal Historic Terminal was vacant for years untill the PA moved it about half a mile and made it part of their new Airport Administration, Police/fire rescue headquarters.
