Rare Long Range F Class Flights And Experiences...

Would love to know if anyone flew these (or similar) flights in First. What was the service like? What was the seat lay-out? etc.

People Express 747: EWR-LGW

America West 747: PHX-HNL

Eastern DC10: MIA-LGW

Western DC10: ANC-HNL

PI 767: CLT-LGW

Emirates 777 DXB - MNL 9 hrs 05 mins

Layout was 2 - 2 - 2 and were something resembling recliners which I could lay completely flat in and was given a full size blanket and pillow. Fed very well...had a tv that was on an adjustable arm showing 6 different movies at a time. Strangest thing was a sheik sitting near me smoking a full-sized "hooka" (one of those 2 foot tall water bongs that sits on the floor and has a pipe attached) That was strange...

Let me rephrase if I was confusing....

I am looking for experiences on F service from airlines that are either defunct, mostly regional, .... etc. I don't mean a rare experience for the traveller. I mean a rare flight because it was short lived (EA's MIA-LGW) or beyond the scope of their typical service (HP's 747's).

Ah I totally misunderstood your point. I thought you were getting at it being rare for the passenger to get to fly on a long range flight in F Class. Oops  Smile

PE flew 747's from EWR to LGW. First class was only in the bubble. I think there were 16 seats but not sure. Leather. Food service was included but not extravagent. In flight movies on overhead screen. Pretty much a domestic first class product. It was primarily used by staff rather than paying passengers so everytime I flew PE on the 747's we were upstairs with no one but staff.

Upgraded catering for all cabins...Seating Configuration was 24F/36J/180Y

First Class service flow (per my EA flight attendant manual and memory)...

Pre-departure champagne/orange juice/cockatils using silver oval trays.

Present warm mixed nuts from a linen covered tray.

Offer newspapers/magazines/headsets/amenity kits.

Present menus.

Obtain beverage and meal choices if possible before take off...

AFTER TAKE OFF :

Hand carry cocktails/beverages on linen covered oval silver trays to passengers.

Present hot towel service.

Presents linens (use two flight attendant presentation).

Present linen covered dinner trays.

Offer bread selection from large bread basket.

Present appetizer/caviar cart (offer champagne/wines after every two rows).

Present soup cart.

Present salad cart with choice of dressings.

Present entree cart (offer champagne/wines after every two rows).

Pick up and stow dinner trays.

Present dessert/cheese and fruit cart.

Pick up and stow dessert service items.

AFTER DINNER SERVICE:

Offer duty free sales service.

Start in-flight movies.

SECOND SERVICE (1:30 OUT) :

Senior/Purser should make announcement advising passengers of second service.

Offer tray of juice selections from linen covered trays.

Present hot towel service.

Present linens (use two flight attendants presentation).

Present breakfast tray with pre-set fruit salad.

Offer coffee (use cups and saucers/silver coffee set).

Present breakfast foods cart.

Pick up and stow service items.

Monitor cabin for any additional requests.

Secure galleys for landing.

Service was accomplished by three flight attendants (2 cabin/1 galley).
