Today has been a good day for AA in the way of a new CEO, stock prices rose, and their FA union has finally agreed. However, should AA go bankrupt, how will this affect oneworld? Without AA, oneworld's biggest strength in the United States is British Airways.
Give me a break, I created this username when I was a kid...

If AA went bankrupt (note that they have avoided this three time in the past week or so), AA would keep flying and OneWorld would not be very much affected. UA's bankruptcy has not significantly affected its position in STAR or the alliance itself to any great extent......the other STAR members may even indirectly benefit from UA's reorganization as UA may rely more on code-share operations with its STAR partners to cut back on non-money making and marginal international flights.

It would not affect OneWorld in any major way, just look at United and Star. United banckruptcy protection hasn't affected Star in any way so if AA does declare Chapter 11, I expect business as usual at AA and OneWorld.

Oneworld will be fine, if in the happenings that AA is not improving, I get the feeling BA and/or QF will keep them afloat, by buying bits of it. Neither of these airlines would want to lose such a valuable asset, especially QF, as they do alot of codesharing.
