It got rejected for various reasons! LOL! I don't know why I submitted it anyway!!! I had to snap it fast before it disappeared behind the building, so the camera didn't focus in time! Damn, oh well. It's N965N, taken Apr. 26.

Thanks for the attempt, very nice of you to post this, I was waiting eagerly to see what it looked like, and I for one thinks it looks very nice. It's clean and professional with just a hint of flashiness, thanks for sharing Continental.

It takes a little getting used to, but it does look pretty good. As I've said before, it would've been nice if they'd continued the red tail to the point where it joins the fuselage. It almost looks as if they ran out of red paint before completing the job.
And I'll agree that the arrow on the symbol looks odd on the starboard side of the fuselage. But, I can overlook those two things, considering the awful paint job it's replacing.

Not bad. I agree that the red should have been extended to the bottom of the tail. Can't wait to see it on a DC-10. Wonder what a 727 would have looked like?

It looks lovely.
I know it sounds superficial, but I am really starting to like the way NWA runs its business more and more, just because of its paint scheme?
Why? It represents a smart business decision that not only cuts costs, but revitalizes the airline's brand in a time (airlines going tits up) when the update is highly visible and thus stands to be more effective. It inspires more confidence in the company and is a symbol for how it is trying to make itself more efficient.
I applaud NWA for its recent projects at DTW and MSP, and can't wait to see what the new WBC product looks like.
Think about it... if NWA did well during the 90s boom and "survived well" during this current downturn with what has been considered a shoddy product -with the exception of reliability- think of what will happen with the next upswing, when NWA has an updated range of products.

The DC9 pictured above is N915RW, not N965N like the author said.
The new livery looks OK on the DC9, but not as good as the Airbus fleet. I don't like how the tail logo cuts off at a higher point in the compass than on other aircraft types. I thought they said the reason for the silver on the bottom of the tail was to make the logo the same shape on all aircraft?

N915RW is correct. Originally delivered to Eastern Airlines, went to Hughes Airwest, and then to Republic, and then to NWA bearing Hughes Airwest registration. NW got away with this because technically Northwest is Hughes Airwest, as was republic.

The livery is on:
744 (1)
A330 (still over in France, delivery in July) (1)
753 (1)
A320 (1)
A319 (2)
DC-9 (3)
---
Aircraft yet to be painted in new livery:
Saab
CRJ
ARJ
727
752
DC-10-30
742
-No official word on whether the Saabs will stay in their current livery or be put in the new one.
-First CRJ in new livery to be delivered in two weeks
-ARJ's (techically not 146's) will be repainted at some point, but are currently not due yet
-5 remaining 727's in sports charters will be retired at the conclusion of the NBA season. Obviously not to be painted in the new livery
-Possible DC-10-30 to appear in new livery in the near future (unconfirmed as to whether it will be repainted)
-It is likely we will see a few DC-10's and 742's appear in the new livery, if they are pending heavy maintenance and due to be repainted. No word as to if/when this will occur
Remember, this is all being done on a normal repainting schedule, and applied to new deliveries at the factory.

Thanks guys! And thanks for the reg. help. I sharpened it a lot so it looks at least a tiny bit decent. I'm mad that I couldn't get a nice picture of it. I waited an hour for it to leave the gate after it disappeared behind the building! I had to go to church though Anyway, I'll be at MSP more often now with my camera now I gotta a car! So expect to see a lot of new colors!

Well ok, this is growing on me...still have yet to see one in person, but as a whole, I like it on the DC9 the best so far...The bigger planes look entirely too silvery, and I really don't like it on the A319...this is nicely proportionate.
But the other livery is still better

All in all...it's a revitalization for an old girl like the DC-9.

Does anyone else think the new color scheme makes the 9 look shorter? At first glance, I thought it was a DC-9-10. I think the old colors with their linear contrasting colors had the effect of making the planes appear longer.
