I've noticed that Air Canada has plans to cancel flights to NRT due to SARS fears. But this is really weird - why the heck didn't AC cancel any flights to HKG or PEK!? Hong Kong is the first major urban area that SARS broke out in, and Beijing is right now still grappling with a serious SARS crisis. And Japan has had only a few cases and no deaths reported.
Frankly, it sounds totally misguided to me, unless AC just couldn't make any money on YVR/YYZ-NRT! But I am already aware AC does have plans to cut the YYZ-HKG and the YVR-HKG frequency though.

Samurai 777, you assume too much like most Canadian tourists who when WHO posts Toronto, Canada travel advisory see only "Canada" thus staying away from Canada for the next uh, I don't know 10 or so years or forever????

The engine is the heart of an airplane, but the pilot is its soul.

The NRT-YYZ route catered more to Japanese tourists than Canadian. Hence the reduced demand was Japan-origin. The route has been temporarily started & stopped a few times since AC took over the route from CP.
Panam, TWA, Ansett, Eastern.......AC next? Might be good for Canada.

Bmacleod - that was not what I was thinking! (Maybe you didn't see which country I'm from, hm?) Period.
But I still agree with your point in a way - too many people from outside Canada do have that kind of attitude you stated and that is what pisses me off.
I've read a recent news article about an Edmonton businessman who was to attend a meeting in Dublin, Ireland. But the company in Dublin decided to ban that guy just because he was Canadian. And that was even when the poor businessman tried to explain that he wasn't even going to go through TO and that Edmonton's a long ways from TO!
I can tell you one thing - I'm planning to fly YVR-YYZ-YHZ, and the SARS scare is not going to make me change my mind, nor will it scare me.
