Hi!

I am considering applying to Emirates. It sounds like a good job and living in Dubai sounds very interesting.

I would like to get some feedback from employees, acquaintences of employees, passengers and anyone who's been to/lived in Dubai.

Any info is greatly appreciated!

I've flown thru Dubai once on Emirates. Was a pretty nice airport and the airline was absolutely top-notch. Only thing I hated was cramming a 777 load of passengers on busses as there were not jetways. Also I was going to Manila and Filipinos have no concept behind patience...if you think people trying to board before their row is called is bad in America....I was literally smashed up against a sliding glass door cause people were pushing SO much to be the first ones on....it was nuts. The service on the aircraft was second to none. I was in first class so there was a bit of bias possibly...and I will never get over seeing the guy smoking a hokah (sp) (aka large water pipe) in the aisle...

I tried booking a flight on EK from SIN to DXB, and my travel agent said that EK isn't accepting any Singaporean passengers! I'm stuck with SQ, which has only 5 flights a week (and so I am unable to travel on the day that I want to).

Has EK suspended service between SIN-DXB? If not, why are they banning Singaporeans and not other nationalities travelling from SIN?

SQ772, I think because of the SARS. In fact, 6 Arab countries including UAE and also Yemen have decided not to allow any passengers entering their boundaries (Including people from China, Singapore, Taiwan and Hong Kong) unless they were not in those countries for at least up to 10 days. People coming from other countries are not affected.

Best Regards

i assume that you travelled thru dubai before 2000, now we have jetways all over the place, we rarely park without a gate

Yes, your correct, it was in either 1997 or 98 I don't recall which. It was my first trip on a 777 so the bus arrival was actually very cool, getting to look at the ship from the outside and walk around it....made it seem all the more massive.

I THOUGHT I already posted this. I'm glad you pointed out the thread was deleted-I'm glad I'm not losing my mind! I wonder why it was deleted?

Anyway, I'm enjoying the weather here in Brownsville, TX (all the way in the southern tip, on the Gulf of Mexico), and waiting to be called for my next trip.

I know they've banned Singaporeans to UAE, but my question is whether EK has suspended flights between SIN and DXB? So, does this also mean that I will not be able to enter DXB if I arrive on SQ direct from SIN? I was told Dubai is not implementing this ban strictly, any truth to this? Anyone?

Sorry to hijack the original topic.

SQ772,

No EK flights have any plans to be temporarily suspended. And there's certainly no reason to stop these flights as EK flights continue to Sydney and Melbourne (With some to Colombo and KUL). Even the SIN - DXB sector is not doing good, I believe SIN - MEL and SYD would be another story.

Best Regards

Fly_emirates do you know if Emirates offers placements/internships to overseas students? I have a year out as part of my degree in Economics and Dubai sounds like a great place and Emirates is a brilliant airline.
