What do you all think about these topics? What are your opinions?
1) AA expansion at JFK.
2) The stalled US-UK open-skies talk.
3) Open up LHR to ALL US carriers.
4) Open up NRT with more slots and new routes for ALL US carriers to fly NRT-Asia.
5) Japanese government's inability to expand NRT due to two landlords' reluctance to sell their land for the proposed second airport runway decades ago.
6) The sinking Osaka Kansai and Hong Kong CLK.
7) The mess left behind by Phillippine Airlines
8) New international routes.
9) A new runway for Amsterdam.
10) The future of Aeroflot.
I think the AA expansion at JFK is going to drive United crazy since United does not have major presence at JFK. NRT authorities should somehow at any cost in dealing with the landlords to start construction on its proposed 2nd runway. Aeroflot should scale back from buying new 777s and shrink its fleet in order to stay profitable during economic turmoil.

I think it would be a great idea to open LHR to all US airlines. This would give a greater variety of aircraft to view. Although at the moment there is a great variety of aircraft and airlines to see it seems every other airline on the tarmac is British Airways, British Midland, Aer Lingus etc.
Having said that all is forgotten when I see an Airbus from Kenya Airways or an Iran Air 747SP landing. Wow what a sight!!!

Slots are limited. If all the slots are in use there's no way to get more, unless some agreament, code-share flights between airlines or building new infrastructures such as stands, runways, terminal's...

It's a very big investment but worth it.
I think that JFK could become a main hub for American because they already have a lot of transcon flights and still quite a few international flights. Plus their regional partener, American Eagle, serves several destinations in the NorthEast.
They should open or reopen more European destinations out of JFK, who knows maybe they'll resume the direct JFK-Brussels flight. The thing is that they would have to compete against Delta out of JFK and Continental out ot Newark for the transatlantic market, but I strongly beleive AA can get very strong in NY Kennedy. So JFK would be both a European and Central & South American gateway for American Airlines. I beleive that they filed for a DOT approval to have a direct JFK-Tokyo flight.

The JFK expansion is probably why they are planning on keeping the
727s a bit longer. The 737s, from what I hear, will initially be used
for route expansion as opposed to replacing the 727s. This might
also mean that the A300s will stay around a bit longer - or does it?
