T2:
i was spotting at Changi from ard 1200hrs till early evening today. I have to say I have never seen so many parked SQ aircraft on the tarmac. Was at terminal 2 and from the viewing gallery which overlooks the main apron, there were a total of 11 aircraft parked. the highlight of the day for me at least was 9V-STE and 9V-STF. it will be the last times i will see them, and i truly apreciate their service rendered in the short/medium haul SQ sectors. they look forlornly lost will their cabin doors open wide (probarbly to dissipate the trapped tropical heat from parking too long). BTW, i saw ZERO of MH shuttle fleet

interestingly, the ramp rats were very free....some of the workers sought the shade from inside the empty cargo hold of 9V-SVJ (doors wide open).

total a/c movements from rwy 02R/20L from 1200hrs to 1430---> less than 6 with ZERO arrivals from SQ. i have never seen so many "ask airline/cancelled" status on the main flight info board in Changi before.

T1:
suprise to see mainly SQ aircraft parked in T1. they occupied almost the entrie row from gate C1 down to the remote stands.
just for the record: i counted 8 B744s (verified 9V-SMQ, SMT, plus one B744 without no.1 engine) , 6 B772s (9V-SRI), 1 A310 (9V-STA), 1 A343 parked at the gates the whole time i was there.

PLUS an assortment of B772s, B773, A310, A343s (one unpainted parked at the Airline House) and an unidentified blue-tailed, windowless B747 at the remote stands nearer to the hangars.

the main players on rwy 02L/20R : republic of singapore airforce's fokker 50s and kc-135s. next is TG with a A300 (HS-TAN) and a B773 (HS-TKA)

Aircraft movements: below 10. RSAF holding the champ with 50% of the bulk. i was delighted to see a CX plane.....havent seen their A343s LIVE in a long time

The departure is DESERTED. saw most of the counter-staff playing solitaire and mindsweeper.
***********************

the patroling military & police wanted to stop me from taking pictures citing "it's a restricted place". I shot them the look and challenged them if photography is prohibited. they verified it with their HQ.
(in short: spotters 1, anti-spotters: NIL)

got the film at the lab, show u guys the scanned prints soon. i wonder how long more SQ got to bleed money before coming back up again....is the golden age of carriers like SQ and CX coming to a bleak end?

I just flew back from ICN yesterday and the flight was 50% full in Y and 100% in J. On the way up it was 90% full in Y and 100% in J.

Singapore was never ever on the WHO travel advisory list so I don't know why people have that impression.

Anyway we haven't had any new SARS cases for 15 days. Just another 5 days and the WHO will declare us SARS free. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
