FORT WORTH, Texas (CNN) -- American Airlines will lay off 3,123 flight attendants beginning July 1 -- a result of cost-cutting moves and recent labor concession talks.

This is a reduction for the 5,000 figure thought possible at one time. However, it still leaves over 6,000 furloughed since 9/11.

Hopefully this will only be temporary  Sad
