I just moved to Orlando from Detroit- those of you who remember me with all of my DTW posts.

I live 3 miles from MCO and can see everything that comes in living between the approaches for the runways- I have not seen any Delta MD-11s flying and from what I believed they were to stop flying May 2- a day before I got to Orlando.

I have driven by the airport a few times since coming down here and I have noticed what I think are the same two Delta MD-11s parked at the Delta Airside (4?) but not parked where the Atlanta bound flights usually park which is on the east end of the airside, but on the west side where the Delta Express planes usually park.

I think they are the same two- both are in the 1997 colors and they have been in the same spot for a week. What is the deal with that? why are they still here if they are retired and not back in Atlanta or somewhere out west in storage?

Aren't there better places to store an MD-11 than that?

yeah it seems to be taking up valuable gate space at MCO, especially with Song starting service at MCO.

The 22oo series flight numbers are mainly setup for the ATL-MCO flights for the larger widebodies. Also on the Approach end to 36L there is a storage area whe US and FL have stored aircraft so it is unusual that they are parked at Airside.

I noticed the MD-11's there today as well. If I see someone down in ops that might know I will ask about Delta's plans for the MD-11's parked here in MCO.

I drove around MCO yesterday and I saw that storage area off of Boggy Cree Road. There are USAir DC-9s there in the old/old colors- the red and silver colors from the 80s.

When I drove through the terminal complex there was a Delta MD-11 that was backed out and running like it was going to take off. I had to go to the store up Semoran Ave and waited for a while to see if it took off, I never saw it take off though.

Where on the Boggy Creek Rd side is the that storage area. I have only seen it on the arrival onto 36L/R. I have only seen it departing off 17 a few times when I am lucky to get a window seat on that side. I have not been able to find where to go to get photos. I also get some good shots from the CO hangar as well as the Customs facility parking lot.

HlywdCatft: I dont believe those are USAir DC-9's at MCO, I think that they are BAC 111's

Remember I am new to the area, I assume it was Boggy Creek Road.

I took Tradeport Drive (aka Conway) all the way to the point where it curves around and I think it is Boggy Creek Road that runs into it. If you are heading south they are on the left side of the road, but there are a lot of shrubs in the way so I don't know how good you will do on pictures.

They might have been BAC-111s, I was going by kind of fast at the time. I think there were Air Tran DC-9s and what looked to be ex American 727s with all titles and red removed.

The BAC-111's are long gone since that photo. There have been MetroJet 732's there before and now there are FL DC9's. As far as other US aircraft I am not sure.

I saw three DL MD11s parked there from the 13-15th of May. It seemed strange to me also.

There are STILL either DC-9s or Bac 111s parked over at that location in 80s era USAir colors but with no titles.
