What do you think about Delta Airlines? What is your opinion of the airline?

It used to be my favorite airline, but the last few times I flew Delta, I noticed it wasn't what it used to be. Some of the 727s have worn seats, and I had to brush the crumbs off mine before I sat down. I had a 767-300 from JFK to ATL, and they showed short subjects. What's so unusual about that? Well, they didn't pass out headsets, and they didn't open up the screen. It just showed on the front cabin bulkhead. I didn't complain because I didn't care to watch it anyway. I don't know whether anyone else complained or not.
The one outstanding part of Delta is the Delta Shuttle, from DCA to LGA to BOS. These 727-200s have very comfortable blue leather seats throughout in an all-coach layout with more legroom than you find in any of Delta's other aircraft. And a snack is served on every flight. I love to fly on the Shuttle.

Delat's service has really dropped. On the flights I always take to ATL and cincinatti from TPA, you recieve a bag lunch before getting on the plane which consits of an old banana, apple sauce, a small sandwich and some usually warm juice.
Their planes are quite dirty also..especially for just getting a paint job. Recent newspaper articles point out the fact Delta is concentrating more on expansion and $$$ instead of cleanliness and customer service.
Don't get me wrong..I still respect Delta and enjoy a ride on any airplane, nomatter what the airline. I have had some great experiences w/ delta and like the fact that they fly heavies on smaller routes so I get to fly all kinds of jets. However, I enjoy a nice cold Coke with a meal served while in flight rather than a bag lunch :-)
All the best!

In the past, I used to fly Delta a good bit to see my family in Cleveland. This would always require a stop in CVG or ATL. About 2 years ago I started to notice a drop in performance in regards to service. If this is a deliberate thing I do NOT beleive it is a good idea. Many airlines have suffered because of deliberate efforts to curb service in order to save money. Continental probably being the biggest. Business travelers do NOT want a bagged meal as they enter a plane. Business travelers are the most important passengers, because they are usually paying the highest fare. Continental with their Continental Lite program suffered because of this. I would really hate to see it happen to Delta too. But I mostly fly Continental now, because of their expanded, and always great, service out of GSP.

Cheers,
Markus

Delta Airline's service is ok. It could be alot better though. But one improvement i have seen from Delta is the quality of the food. When I flew form PHL-MCO, I think I had the best coach lunch on an airline yet!

I fly Delta quite a bit, and have been pretty happy. I especially love their MD-11s! ;-) I also have had excellent Delta meals. I haven't noticed service problems, but some have so...

I haven't flown Delta in almost a year, but it's still one of my top choices. I'm just waiting for them to retire the L1011s, so that I have a chance of getting where I'm going on time (the route I fly most, LAX-HNL, is currently an L1011-only route for Delta). Their service is pretty good, and I've found their employees to generally be more curtious and professional than those at Shuttle by United or American Eagle (it's been a while since I've flown regular service on either airline).

They're no match in terms of service to Hawaiian Airlines, but then Hawaiian doesn't fly to very many places - just the ones I go to most.

Delta has a very good service on board. The F/A are friendly, the meals are good,...anyway I have no complaint. The only thing I have to say is that it makes absolutely no sense to serve a snack on a 40 minute flight from New York to DC. I think that there should not even be drinks on one hour flights or less. Just my opinion.

I flew Delta from JFK to LAX round trip this summer. I was suprised to see that the interior of their aircraft was so dirty, I didn't expect that from Delta and was very disappointed. On the flight back they gave us a bagged meal-the worst I've had yet... the sandwich was stale, and after that first bite everything else in the frozen bag (but the juice) seemed unappealing.
Delta is one of the largest airlines in the world but if it's service continues to be like that it won't gain much more travelers
