AAloha, in July I will be going to HNL, and one on one of my legs I will be flying the 777 from (DFW-LAX #AA2421) I have been on UAL's Triple Sevens on many occasions but have never flown an AA Triple Seven. How are they? I'm in seat 21H which is the second row of coach. What is DFW like? Is an hours connection enough time to change terminals?? Your help is greatly appreciated. Mahalo.

On domestic flights, AA 777 business class seating is sold as coach inventory. I would recommend changing your seat to something in rows 9-13. You will be able to enjoy an upgraded seat free of charge.

Yes, American 777's on domestic flights are configured in a two-class layout. Like Speedracer explains, the Business Class cabin is considered as an Economy Class section.
I flew four years ago on a 777 from DFW to ORD, yes at that time the aircraft at American was brand new, it was my first flight on a 777, I was directly assigned on a Business Class seat without even requesting an upgrade. You are seated in a Business Class seat but you are treated the same way passengers behind in Economy Class are treated, you get the exact same amenities and inflight service and you don't get a table cloth with your meal. Nevertheless you'll like the aircraft.

Yes, the Business Class cabins on AA's domestic 777 flights are generally blocked for our top tier, elite passengers, however, as previously mentioned, on the day of departure it may be possible to be reassigned.

A One hour connection time should be ok if your flight is on time. AA operates out of 3 terminals at DFW, terminals A, B & C. Terminals A & C are mainline flights and Terminal B is for AA Eagle and Connection. All American Terminals are connected by a rail system called TRAAIN that is located inside security so you don’t have to go through screening again if you have to change terminals. There are 2 stations in A, opposite gates A12 & A29 and 2 in C, opposite gates C2 & C30 and one at B, and they run about every 2 minutes. The TRAAIN system is a continuous one way loop system that goes from Terminal A, then to C, then to B, then back to A. So if your arrival gate is in Terminal C, and your departure gate is in A., then you would go all the way around, maximum time should be around 8 minutes. Terminals A and C are also connected by a walkway, if your arrival gate is near the walkway and so is the departure gate, it is an easy walk. AA’s in flight magazine has a layout of all AA’s terminals and gate numbers and so does their website. AA usually will announce just before landing the arrival gate and departing gates for connecting passengers. If your flight is running late they will usually have electric carts standing by to immediately take you over to your gate.
Last week I flew AA from JFK to Las Vegas connecting in Dallas, My flight from JFK was delayed due to a mechanical problem and I arrived only ten minutes before the Las Vegas flight was to depart. The customer service Rep at the arrival gate said it was to late to connect and since that was the last flight out to Las Vegas I had to stay overnight in Dallas, AA picked up the hotel bill.
