Republic Airways Holdings has ordered an additional 12 Embraer
ERJ-145LRs to be operated by its two subsidiary carriers
Chautauqua Airlines and Republic Airlines on behalf of US
The new deal increases Republic’s total order
to 87 aircraft of which 71 are already in service including
15 ERJ-140s with American Connection, 15 ERJ-135s and 19 -145s
with Delta Connection, and the remaining 50-seaters with US
The purchase of the Axon ERJ-145s still leaves the carrier
looking to source another 14 aircraft to reach its fleet goal,
either through converting some of the 50 Embraer options it
still holds, or acquiring more second hand jets.
Republic needs the extra aircraft to fill the 32 additional
regional jet rights its been allocated by US Airways under
the jets-for-jobs agreement with the Air Line Pilots Association.
Of the 12 new ERJ-145s ordered, only three will go to Chautauqua
and the other nine to the planned new start-up Republic, which
will starting flying in October with its first two aircraft.
The remainder will follow at a rate of two per month.
The new Louisville-based carrier will receive in total 23
aircraft, virtually all of which will be flown by furloughed
US Airways pilots under the jets-for-jobs scheme. Chautauqua’s
existing pilots have refused to accept the jets-for-jobs
provision and as a result will only receive nine new and ex-Axon
