It looks like the local media has turned on them and now the almighty Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority is out to sink their only locally headquartered airline.

If there was only a way to disband the Port Authority and eliminate an ultra-powerful quasi-government agency that seems to have no vision but to line the pockets of their top execs.

With the way they are going on running the airport, maybe Carty will get his wish and TOL will turn into a housing complex for the deaf.  Big grin

Steve...

About running the airport - besides this Grand Aire thing, they are also being completely stubborn with BAX Global over a $500k tax bill that BAX paid directly to the Port when BAX didn't owe anything. The Port is refusing to refund any of the money saying it was BAX's responsibility to figure out what it should and should not have paid. Then you get into the whole policy with passenger traffic and their wanting to increase load factors through dropping capacity. Capacity is down 24%, Passengers down 21%...and load factors are up a whole 3% to 70.4%.

About Carty's wish. Carty use to be mayor of Toledo, now he sits on the Port Board. He had an idea a few years back to move the deaf center from downtown to an area by the airport since no one wanted to live out there because of the noise.

Carty = Carleton S. Finkbeiner.....As you could imagine all of the comedians took this and ran with it for weeks. Leno/Letterman....they all made fun of him for it. The hearing impared in the area organized rallys against him and stuff. Quite embarassing for the city....well....besides the airport ;o)
