AF received two new 747-400`s (F-GITH and F-GITI). Does anyone know on which routes they are flying?

Thanks in advance!

Patrick

I know that F-GITI has served Mex recently, not much help I know but I read it on one of the photos. I didn't know AF had decided to put PTV's in Tempo on their new 744's. I thought they were gradually placing them on routes run by the 742's, and were going to put more seats in etc? (Caribbean etc) That's what I had been told.

Thanks for your replies!

I hope that one of both planes is flying CDG-JFK next month because I would save a lot of money for magazines and newspapers when I get a plane with PTV`s  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I was on F-GITH on AF90/07MAY CDGMIA, it was fantastic with the new aircraft smell and PTV.

I see the new "B777" interiors were not installed. Anyone hazard a guess?

They are planning on using them mainly on the CDG/LAX/PPT route because of the length of the flight, but they won't be used on any specific route so you could see them anywhere in the world.

Ben88, I think these aren't 747-400ER's as originally planned, so I'd say they will more or less fly on the whole network. But I wonder too, why not the new interior? Maybe to keep inventory standardized.

The 744 (not any specific one) will be deployed on the Beirut route this summer.

I think this is the first time Air France will have ever flown the 747 into Beirut.

The cabin IS the new interior, i.e. bigger personal TV screens for First and Business Class pax, flat screen general monitors, and the new economy class seats (the ones in the A330s) with the PTVs.

GITH and GITI have been flying all routes, they have not been flying dedicated routes. I have even seen it do CDG-NCE-CDG more than once (most likely because of the Cannes Film Festival).

Do the seats in the new 744 tempo class still have a seat pitch of 31'?

The seats looks like the new seats on SQ's 772ER Economy class!

Donder10,

Really? Maybe they did and I forgot.

Oh well, either way. This summer AF will have 8 flights a week. The daily 777-200ER service and the Wednesday 747-400 service.

Chris, by new interior I meant the 777-style that Boeing offers for the 747 as well.

Ahhhhh, ok, K-man. Didn't mean to come across as so insistent.

I did not know the 777-style interior was available for the 744s.

I believe AF's new 744s are actually ERs with GE B5F engines. Is that correct or not?

I just flew a brand new AF 744 (sorry, I didn't take down the reg number) MIA-CDG. It was not an ER and it had an A-340-like interior.

It was much more comfortable and enjoyable than the older 744, which I flew on the same route only several months prior. Nice PTV's in economy, more ergonomic personal space, etc. Don't know what the seat pitch was though. Plane was brand-spanking new!

A 744 with an A340 interior? Are you sure? Probably a 777 style interior.

These new 744's were orginally going to be ER's but they changed the order to the standard 744. So do all the 744's have PTV's or are these the first since they are brand new?

As far as I am aware these two are the first to be fitted with PTV's. The cabin looks so much nicer with the new seats etc When I flew on F-GITF from MIA-CDG last year, although it was quite a nice flight, those seats and the PTV's would have made life a little bit more comfortable.

-GITH and -GITI are indeed the 1st two new 744s with PTVs in the economy class seats.

Eventually, slowly but surely, the 744s will have their cabins re-done and updated with the associated maintenance checks.

Still not sure if these are -ER aircrafts, I am inclined to think no.

Ok I will try to straighten things up.

F-GITH
F-GITI
F-GITJ

are all -400 standard models MTOW 397 Tons.

The new cargo planes are -400ERF's

GIUA, GIUB, GIUC I believe

None of the older -400's will get PTV's. All older -400's are being updated with galley air chillers and new seats in economy -without- ptv's.
