I discovered this last Saturday when I flew three segments to LAX and then on Sunday when I flew three segments home. American will no longer print the gate on your connecting flight's boarding pass. They said this was because the gate often changed and people would wind up at the wrong gate, if they don't print the gate number they figure people will pay more attention. Just a little FYI to all you travelers out there.

I flew with American on Wednesday and Thrusday and the gates were on most of my flights.. I had two connections. I didnt get the gate for the last flight but I assumed i was too early. I was about 6:30am and that connection was about 5pm. But for my first two flight I had my gate info. In any event I always check the monitors cause as you say, the gates change all the time. Sometimes the concourse is even different

Hi,

I flew last week Thursday (05/28/03) with AA, LAS - LAX - JFK and at Las Vegas Airport they gave me also the boarding card for LAX-JFK and they showed me that the gate doesnt show on the boarding card, so I should pay attention for the gate when I get to LAX.

Best regards,

Ly334

I think it makes a lot of sense, as people never read what is right in front of them, and will not pay attention and end up sitting at the wrong gate as the plane departs. Also maybe it saves ink and AA is looking at this as a cost saving measure.

Boarding cards are printed on heat sensitive paper, therefore no ink is used.

I am assuming that comment was supposed to be humorous though.

Yes it was meant to be funny as AA is looking at every aspect to save money.

Re - ink saving, they also give you now a posibillity to print your boarding card at home through the internet.

Re - cost saving measure,

I flew last week on an AA flight from MIA to LAS and no food was given for a 4.25 hours flight and a delay of 2 hours.
The only thing we got was just a small Bistro bag at the gate with some small nothing in it.

But I must say that the coach cabin is well spaced for legroom.

They shouldn't print ANY gate information, let alone connecting.

I was travelling in a group DCA-ORD (AA) and the gate on our boarding passes (except 1) was changed and it caused a bit of a confusion.
