Universal Airlines will launch non-stop service between Georgetown, Guayana and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on 17 June 2003. Service will operate every Tuesday and Friday with Boeing 767-300ER aircraft. I am shocked that they have chosen to serve FLL over MIA, but none the less, Universal Airlines joins Aces/Grupo Summa, AeroMexico, and Cayman Airways in becoming the newest international carrier at FLL in the past eight months. Since December 2002, Ft. Lauderdale has welcomed new non-stop service to Bogota, Cancun (starts fall '03; Spirit), Grand Cayman, Hamilton, Bermuda (starts 14 June; USAirways), and Mexico City (starts 7 July; AeroMexico).

I believe this is the only nonstop service between Guyana and South Florida, or Im I wrong ?
It is, and it is about time that we get Georgetown service back. BWIA, however, offers daily Miami to Georgetown service with a stop in Port of Spain. As an added bonus, the flight originates in Paramaibo, Surinam, giving FLL same-plane service to the nation. MIA already has one-stop service to Paramaibo on a DCA/Surinam Airways partnership twice a week via Curacao.
