I'm thinking about going to see friends in the Baltimore area and I found that from MKE - BWI its $112 round trip on AirTran. How are their 717's on this 2 hour flight?

Should I take advantage of this sale or spend the extra $75 and fly AA from ORD-BWI?

Thanks.

I'd go with FL and use the $75 you would have spent on AA coach to upgrade to AirTran first class (upgrades are available for purchase the day of the flight for like $25 or something one way). This way you get a better seat than you would on AA coach, more or comparable leg room than you would have gotten on AA and free drinks, plus you probably still save like $25 or something...
It's also only a 2 hour flight, and AirTran coach is not bad at all, so I'd definately go with AirTran if I were you...
AirTran is a very reputable airline, comparable to all the majors, only with better fares, and if MKE is closer to you, then definately go with FL...

So i should spend the $112 on coach on FL, then at the airport upgrade to first class for $25?

I flew 2-hour segments on AirTran 717's in coach last year to do the same trip via ATL. The plane was quite comfortable. I'm 5'11.5'' and then weighed 180.

Upgrades to business class are now $35.

I'm not knocking AA at all, but try Airtran, especially if you have never flown them. The 717 is still a fairly rare bird (except for Airtran's fleet) so it's always fun to fly on something new, especially when the price is the best. I have flown tons of times on the 717, and like previous posts, I would splurge for the upgrade. But even in coach, the flight will be a good one.

Check the web site I believe the rate for upgrades has gone up, tho still a bargain compared to other carriers.

I dont see any upgrade prices. Sorry, Im used to AA and not FL. I see the trip for $240 each way in business class.

Thanks for the help. I will be on the 717 from HNL-KOA in july on Hawaiian, but i heard FL has great service.

Also, will I get a beverage on FL or nothing at all?

Never mind:

"Inflight Service

Do you have first class?
Ours is a Business Class any business can afford. You'll get 7 inches more legroom than you would in coach, and a much wider seat too, since our Business Class seating is 2-across, like first class on other airlines. This means plenty of room to open your briefcase and spread out, or to work on your laptop without sharing the information on the screen with the person next to you. In addition to soft drinks and snacks, you receive two complimentary alcoholic beverages.

Business Class upgrades are available in advance for $35.00 over the full one-way coach fare for nonstop flights and for $70.00 over the full one-way fare for connecting flights. They are not available for use with discounted fares.

Currently, as a special promotion, for the amounts listed above, you may upgrade from any fare class on a first come, first served basis, upon checking in for travel."

OK one more question:

Can I get assigned seating like AA, or is it like Southwest and first come first serve basis?

Thanks

Hi!

I've flown on TWA's 717s (which R now being bought by AirTran) from STL-MKE a lot. THey were awesome! Very comfortable and a lot of room. If U look in the cockpit, it's a great view.

My favorite seat was the jumpseat.

PS-I've also flown several times on AirTran. Excellent service. It was better than I've received on NWA.
