120,000 MP pluss miles can get you from the US to Asia and back in first calss. But it can do a lot more. Star Alliance awards allow a stopover. They also allow us to combine carriers. So I am taking advantage of every opportunity within the rules. Here is what my ticket reads:
LAX-NRT (NH, F)
NRT-HKG (NH, C)
stopover in Hong Kong
HKG-SIN (SQ, C: F not available)
Singapore is final destination
SIN-HKG (UA, F)
HKG-ICN (OZ, F)
Overnight in Seoul. I will be there under 24 hours, so it is a connection and not a stopover.
