Northwest's 727s Now That The NBA/NHL Are Done

An article in the new issue of 'Airliners', plus some fairly recent threads bears repeating, and an update from those in the know:

As we know, Northwest was maintaining 5 727-200's for use with NBA and NHL charters. Now that those seasons and playoffs are overwith, with the NBA finals being completed last night, what is the status of those 727's?

Where are they? Are they being readied for ferry flights to the desert?

This is the last, took the Nets home, arriving about 6 hours ago.

San Antonio - - Newark
11:11-15:03
Boeing 727-200

I know that on Saturday two seperate NW 727s, one hour apart from either, flew both the Spurs and the Nets to San Antonio for the remainder of the series. The Spurs rode on N817EA.

rumor has some of them going to Champion Air and they will continue the vip flights.
