I was trying out my new 100-400mm lens and I was listening to ATC and I noticed a United 747-400 flying overhead and I got two pictures of it. Then I looked on flight tracker and was looking for some 747 flights from some sort of international destination but all I saw were domestic so I saw this one from Gulfport MS. I clicked on it and noticed it was a 747!!! Why was it comming from there and was it a 747 comming from storage?

Here it is

Aircraft Type Boeing 747-400

Most likely a military charter.

I forget what military outfit is based at GPT. But I recall that I was on a DC-10 a while back that picked up a bunch in Tazar, Hungary and flew them to GPT via SNN and JFK.

The next week we did the same trip but droped off troops in Ft Benning Ga. What a long 2 weeks. The routing was MSP-SNN-LHTA-SNN-JFK-GPT/LSF-MSP.

Kiesler AFB is in GPT...lots of military charters vector through there...ATA L1011's have been frequent visitors in the past.

Steve in New Orleans
