Four Engine Prop At Pearson

At 8:05pm on Tuesday, June 17th, a four engine prop with very squared off wing tips past over me as it took off from Pearson International.

I seem to recall red trim on white but I won't swear by it.

As I've not seen a four engine prop since the Hamilton based Lancaster passed over my head while I strolled along Wellesley in downtown Toronto about two months ago, I'm extremely curious as to what this aircraft might have been.

Any thoughts?

thanks,

Hi, I recall seeing something yesterday on flytecomm about an Antonov due in, maybe an AN-22, but I don't remember correctly.

As a side note, HMY flew in to Toronto today, anybody catch them? I guess they finally started their service, which was supposed to have started on May 5th.

Thanks Cap'n,

That makes sense. The props did look a bit odd, obviously because they were doubled!

I wish I could have taken a better look but I was driving at the time.

At least I can say that I've seen one.

Thanks again.

Did it have an H tail.

Dead give away for an AN-22.

Zantop had an Electra scheduled to fly Pearson to Willow Run yesterday at 7:30 EDT, my guess is that was it.

My definition of cool ? Not trying so hard to be cool.

That makes even more sense. The fuselage didn't have the bulk of the Antonov and in retrospect, the aircraft just wasn't big enough.

Thanks FF.
