Just curious for some opinions on who is worse shape (financially) and who is more likely to survice out of the two partners, KL and NW.

I don't think that NW or KL will have much of a problem surviving. Of course the economic situation is tough for the airlines right now, but as always NW and KL pull through. I think that UA has the lowest chance of surviving of all the majors, but after saying that, it would be highly unlikely for UA to go completely under.
