Here is my list:

A: American Airlines

B: British Airways

C: Cathay

D: Delta

E: Emirates

F: FedEx

G: Gulf Air

H: Hapag Lloyd

I: Iberia



L: Lufthansa and Lan Chile(couldnt decide between the two!)

M: Mexicana

N: Nippon and Northwest...another difficult decision

O: Olympic

P: PIA...although some years ago I would have said Pan Am

Q: Qantas

R: Royal Jordanian

S: The most difficult letter, ok- SAS, Sabena, Saudi, and Swissair


U: United


W: World Airways

X: Only one comes to mind-Xiamen

Y: Yugoslav Airlines

Z: Cant think of any Z airlines...how about you?

actually Yuguslav Airlines starts with a J (Jugoslovensky Aerotransport) and for Z you can use Zoom or Zip

For the letter S I would have said SQ and SA as they are both much more important for the markets they serve than the airlines mentioned above.

I would have added "EL AL" to E.
afterall, they inovated security proceadures, and the new door installed on all airlines..

cockpit? it's that little room in the front of the plane where the pilots seat.. but that's not important now

I would probably switch Delta and Cathay around, but other than that, that list is exactly what I would think. I would add one of the major low-cost carriers as Z, because the Up-and-coming airlines are almost as important as the well-established airlines.

I would replace CO with CX. In terms of industry impact, I would add WN.
