Hi guys, on July 8th a.net members Airblue, F.Pier, me and another Italian spotter are coming to FRA to visit the airport and doing some "alternative" spotting (we are getting bored of MXP!). We'll take FR from BGY to HHN (arrival time 8:10) and then the bus to Frankfurt Airport and leave with the last flight to BGY (dep. 22:30 from HHN). Does anybody want to join us?

Everything is confirmed, we're landing in HHN at 8.10, then we're going to take the bus and we'll be in FRA at about 10 (I think).

We have the return flight from Hahn at 22.30

I sincerely hope to meet some of you there!!!!

Well I'm most certainly in Frankfurt that day as many other a.net members, too, but please keep in mind next Tuesday is a regular workday in Germany (yes we still have some of those Big grin).

Anyway have fun there...FRA is really great for spotting, many nice locations and a superb variety of carriers and aircraft!

I know it's only VfB but I like it!

Point taken, if I have to travel on business that day, I'll take a good look around...btw I'll then be the one wearing a double-breasted dark blue suit Big grin Big grin Big grin

But seriously: Are you planning to spend the whole day on the T1 terrace? Don't...have a good look at Startbahn West and the spotting point near Autobahn A5, too.

If you don't go there you'll miss a few spectacular sights!!

I would really like to join you guys but unfortunately I can`t make it on July 8th. Andreas is correct, don`t waste all your time on the boring terrace, the spots at the Autobahn A5 and at runway 18 are more interesting.

It is difficult to reach runway 18 without a car, you would walk approximately one hour or even longer. The spot on the A(utobahn) 5 is reachable in approximately 20 minutes from Terminal 2. I will try to explain you the way: When you are in front of Terminal 2 go not towards Terminal 1 but into the other direction, pass the ramp where the small regional jets are parked, after a while there appears a small way (for pedestrians and biker only), simply follow this way and you will reach the spot in short time (don`t forget drinks because you can`t buy them there). Here is a map, you can see the A5 spot on the bottom of the picture:

Is it true that the observation terrace of Terminal 2 is closed?

Yes, the observation deck on Terminal 2 is closed, since almost two years now.
