When it comes time for Song to expand, thus requiring more aircraft, will Delta send over more 757s from the mainline, or will it assign, perhaps, 738s or order new aircraft?

I don't know..... Mullin at one point before Song's initial launch had said that 737's would probably play a role in the then future LCC. But by adding an additional aircraft type, the costs of the LCC will go up. Delta has around a 100 757's, so it could move more over to Song and use 737-800's to fill in the gap at mainline. Of course, if Delta does order a large number of 100 seater planes, Delta may go for more frequency on certain routes with smaler planes, thus freeing up the 757's for Song. Delta has never said that it would hold Song at 36 planes, just that by this year's end 36 planes would be flying. A lot depends on how successful the brand is, and what markets Delta thinks it can enter. A lot also depends on what the future of the US industry is. If one of the large carriers were to go under, Delta might expand Song more. Imagine if UA were to go under, and there is no certainty that it will, Delta could easily move in to the LAX-SFO route with a bunch of Song flights. Ditto with LAX-SEA, and LAX-LAS. If they got certified to fly overseas with 757's, they could even serve HNL frequently each day from LAX. That would be a logical market for Song, and it would give them a leg-up on SWA and JetBlue. But that is a lot of if's.

Here are 2 dumb Song questions I have... (a little off the topic but I didn't want to make a new thread)

Can people connect from a DL flight to a Song flight and vice versa? What is Song's 2 letter airline code?

Hawaii is a very high ticket destination and I myself can not see that happening, unless JetBlue or another LCC's entered that market. I know ATA serves the market tho a lot of that is sold to Pleasant Hawaiian and sold via them coupled with there hotel offerings.

ONT 737, I believe that people can connect from Song to Delta mainline without any problem since they use the same gates at all airports. For example, Song will be flying Florida-JFK routes and one of the advantages of those routes for Delta is to use them as a feed for their international flights out of JFK. The airline code is the same as Delta mainline. This was the case with Delta Express, as well. A special range of flight numbers (right now flights 2450-2599, according to the current Delta timetable) are used to separate the Song flights from the mainline flights.

Hawaii is a very high ticket destination

Not really. Hawaii is a loss-leader for most majors, who use it as the "carrot" to entice frequent fliers to use them on their travels. ("Hey, if you earn ten million FlyBoyMiles, you get free tickets to Hawaii for you and your family!")

Most U.S. majors will offer a disproportionately higher amount of award seats for Mainland to Hawaii travel than they would elsewhere in the system. It's not unusual to have better than 50% of a HNL flight being frequent flier awards.

There's also a very high amount of wholesaler/bulk fare traffic to and from Hawaii, sold as packages. Consequently, the average "fares" for Hawaii are actually quite low. A LCC could do well here, provided the frequency issues and ETOPS requirements were factored in.

Many feel that either Song or Delta Connection will eventually take over all domestic flying from Delta Mainline.

ONT 737:

If you book a flight through www.delta.com, and there is a Song flight leg that makes sense for your itinerary, then you can book it that way. For instance, if you are flight ATL-JFK-IST, and one of the ATL-JFK Song flights is a better match than a mainline or connection flight, then you can do that. However, you can't book it that way through the Song website.

This is correct for booking online at Song pages and but, it was only for use on www.delta.com as purchase online with e-tickets any of kind cities where are you may go there. OK? However, that mean won't not booking online at www.flysong.com either. If you would like have any of those question about booking online by the tickets on the their trips. Thanks!  Smile

Does anyone know when Song is going to introduce one of its other 3 paint jobs? I had heard that Song was supposed to have 4 different paint jobs.

Someone on another forum thread said that the other 3 colors had been postponed, and that it was cheaper to paint them all the same.

Well in the long run it would have been cheaper to leave them painted as Delta flights and just slapped on a Song decal, if we truly are counting every penny!

Looks like they just announced JFK-LAS, and BOS-LAS. Sorry...this news is already a couple of days old. Should be interesting to see what's next.
