While I have not seen an official press release from either Boeing or AirTran, today's Seattle Times is reporting that AirTran will be buying 50 Boeing 737-700/800 (doesn't give exact breakdown), plus another 50 options.

I think the days of new B757 rolling out are almost over. The -200 is definitely dead, however there's still some little hope left for the -300. AA, UA and DL would have been certain customers for the -300, but the events of the past two years killed that option.

At the same time, the airline placed an additional order for up to 10 Boeing 717 aircraft.
