I'm hopefully off to Toulouse to see a rugby game later this year and need something to do for a day. As Airbus are based there I thought it might give me an opportunity to see the factory.

So:

Has anyone been on a factory tour? Do they need a group booking before organising a tour or can you turn up on the day and join a tour there and then?

Any advice appreciated.

The Airbus Factory tours are not offered by Airbus itself ... I apologize for replying without having precise information like the name of the company that actually does the tours, but they are not everyday, and you will have to call in advance to see when they are giving the tours and to reserve your places. It's worth it though, there is a boutique where you can buy tons of nifty things after the tour, from stickers to models.

I have been on the factory tour, and it is 150% worth it! You get to see the A330/340 development line. I understand that they are everyday, but you have to book well in advance. The company that arranges the tours are called taxiway.

For details and reservations, you can contact the agency which organise these tours:
Taxiway :
Tél : 05 61 18 06 01
Fax : 05 62 74 08 68
10 av. Georges Guynemer
31770 - COLOMIERS

NB - get a taxi to the taxiway welcome area... its a long long walk from the airport terminal...

That's it ... Taxiway ... I grabbed a city and bus map ... took a bus to the surrounding area and had to walk about 15 minutes from the bus stop.

For those of you in the 21st century...

Taxiway can also be found here: http://www.taxiway.fr

Airbus tours:
http://perso.wanadoo.fr/taxiway.fr/fr/airbus.htm

They also offer this: http://perso.wanadoo.fr/taxiway.fr/fr/airbus/conc.htm. May be interesting to Concorde fans.

Hope that helps?  Smile
(If you're not very familiar with French then booking by email may be less daunting than phoning)

Thanks for the replys. I don't know the date yet, but it will be the end of this year, early next. I'll enquire with the company nearer the time.
