So I was told by a TLS spotter today. A photo hasn't been possible yet, but I'm waiting for one. I will try to gather more info on first flight etc...
Interestingly, I thought until now that the first LH 346 will wear Star colours, so either this is wrong, or the aircraft in TLS is the second one.
I was also told that the first LH 346 will come to FRA this month, in primer colours, for whatever trial purposes.

So, any additional info is welcome!
Konstantin

Yep, a photo isn't possible yet because the Northwest A330 is blocking the view. Another one of these fantastic birds.

December 8th: FRA-EZE-SCL
December 31st: FRA-KIX
January: FRA-ICN
February: FRA-YVR.

That binds about 6-7 planes. what about the three others?

Before December 8, it might appear on some North American routes.

Is this then some sort of test mode?
And will the 346 already have the new Business class on board, and possibly some modified Economy?

afaik, the very first A340-600 to start operations will not be the first one built for LH, D-AIHA, which is supposed to the wear the star scheme.
i believe D-AIHB and -HC will enter service prior to -HA, thus, the "first aircraft" will not wear the star titles but Lufthansa c/s instead.

cheers

Damn, and I have a model of D-AIHA in full Lufthansa livery...

Wasn't SFO always on top of the list for A346 destinations?

Keep it!
Faulty things are often much more valuable than correct ones!!! Isn't the Blue Mauritius a stamp with a mistake or a typo or something like that?

...not that I believe that you'll get that much money for it Big grin...

Maybe the three other planes are for MUC-LAX, MUC-SFO? Those flights usually go out 95% full Big grin

My guess is that once LH gets enough A340-600's, this new plane will be used on the MUC-SFO-MUC route, given that MUC is a major industrial/financial center in Germany.

I wouldn't be surprised that by 2008 LH will be flying the A380-800 on the FRA-SFO-FRA route and the A346 on the MUC-SFO-MUC route.  Smile

I think Lufthansa is using the A340 for its routes that have a lower demand. The 744 is doing the routes with high demand. In 4 years the routes with very heavy traffic will be flown by A380.

Only there are no 744s based in MUC, so they have trouble flying with them  Big grin
In 2001, they already did both routes with the 744s but on a FRA-(SFOLAX)-MUC-(SFOLAX)-FRA routing.

I wouldn't be surprised that by 2008 LH will be flying the A380-800 on the FRA-SFO-FRA route and the A346 on the MUC-SFO-MUC route.

I certainly hope that by 2008 one A346 will not be enough to cope with the demand on that route Big grin

Daniel, your info is correct about the order of the deliveries, had it confirmed now... and no date fixed for the FRA visit yet. July 29 has slipped into August. It will be D-AIHA in primer colours.
