I was wondering who owns a private jet in Mexico, because I heard the maintenance is very expensive. Someone knows who owns Gulfstreams and Global Express ?

Tomás:

There is a lot of people who own a private jet. Supposedely, Mexico is the fourth country with the largest fleet of private jets.

However, most of them are not directly owned by individuals. The owners leased them from firms which they own... You have a number of this firms: AeroÁngeles, AeroFrisco, Aerotransportes Humaya, etc
So, despite you see Emilio Azcárraga in a biz jet with Televisa logo, is it not actually his, but of a firm probably called AeroTelevisa.

You can take full note of those firms by going to TLC hangars.

Is Omnilife Jorge Vergara's company (the guy who owns the Guadalajara soccer team, produced "Y Tu Mamá También", etc.) or am I thinking about a different company?

A college buddy of mine used to fly as a cabin attendant for someone in Mexico who owned a Gulfstream 2 or 3, I don't remember. This guy's brother owned a Gulfstream 3. I believe they owned a large furniture factory in Mexico. The planes were hangered at Mexico City's Int'l airport.

They would fly Mexico to Europe with the owner and his family. Then deadhead all the way back to Mexico City to pick up the aircraft owner's mistress and fly her to Europe to the same destination.

JOSEMEX:

You are correct, this is Jorge Vergara's company who owns the private BBJet, the Guadalajara Soccer Team and if everything goes under plan, the Atletico de Madrid Soccer Team.

By the way, have any of you mexicans ever saw an Omnilife product????

Ay, Rojo, you read my mind!!!!

I have never seen seen or heard about Omnilife, except when people refer to Mr. Vergara and his numerous purchases and they add that he "is the owner of Omnilife".

Must be some really good business...

David:

Lets go to the facts here... Mr. Vergara claims that Omnilife products are sold in an Amway system (pyramid), and that they are mainly sold among the low income families. But lets be real, you need to sell lots of products to buy a BBJ, the Guadalajara Soccer Team and the Atletico de Madrid Soccer Team, among other companies... we all know about Elektra being a good business in Mexico for low income families, but we know the products they sell and we see adds in the TV and Newspapers!!!!!

My friends from Guadalajara say lots of interesting things about this company, there is a rumor that Mr. Vergara has his own private golf course in Jalisco.

Rich People in Mexico!  Big thumbs up

In numbers... 1000 jets down US borders (Latin America) 400 are Mexican biz registered. With a 10% rate growth every year.. so 40 aircrafts enter to our private aviation. PLUS an unknown number of Mexican private owners and Mexican companies with biz stored in the US airports. I was told that there's a rumour of 600 jets owned by Mexicans outside of our country (US and Canadá), Sad definetly...

Anyway, just returned from SXM, exactly 12 hours ago... saw a Mexican Jet over Maho Beach landing in 09! XA-EYA..... Glad to know Juan Carlos and I were not the only Mexicans @ SXM  Smile

Actually, I read in a Flight International a couple of months ago that Mexico has the third largest business jet fleet in the world... after USA and Brazil.

Quite interesting.
