09R is always used for t/o and 09L always for landings,Except Concorde which takes off from 09L
I think there are LT buses that go near there butt expect a good walk!!
the petrol staion on the perometer rd is used for 09R t/o and there is a field right underneath 09L for the landings, last time there (1 week ago) the grass was a high as an elephants eys!!!
I expect more people will give better info, but at least its a start for you

Silverfox how can you guarantee the runway usage, it is done by the direction of wind its always changing...
At the moment they are using the 27's - but it may change, get the bus from the central bus station and catch the bus to the visitors centre, you have to walk the rest of the way, don't know the bus numbers though.

There's a free airport bus, H30 or something... it goes to BA watreside and cargo terminals, then to Hatton Cross (from central bus station) and vice versa - it basically drives all the way around the airport

Sabena 690: 09 RWY's were also in use when I visited LHR last year with Turbotrent. It's no problem to reach them: just take the bus to the BA center in the neighbourhood (on the northwest side of LHR), and walk from there on to 09L. 09R is a bit further, but I think it's still easier to get off the bus at the BA center than at T4.
But, we know how to get there, it's no problem and it's free
