Hello,

Starting January 2004, Air France will send its new A318 to DUS. For the time being, only one rotation is scheduled to be on the new "Baby Airbus":

6 DUS CDG 2035 2150 AF2407 C9 D9 O5 Y9 S9 K9 H9 T9 M9 V9#318*C
5 CDG DUS 1830 1945 AF2406 C8 D8 O2 Y9 S9 U9 K9 H9 T9 M9#318*C

...which leads me to my question:

Does anybody know the delivery schedule of AF's A318 and the inaugural dates and flights, where they will be used?

P.S.: I will probably try out the new A318 on its inaugural flight from DUS.

I would imagine LHR will see some, especially when they are 'farmed' out to other locations.

NCE-LHR must be on the cards at some stage.

That is a good idea, I think that I will also be on the inaugural flight.

For what it's worth I've just looked at the Frontier airlines web-site schedules for July 20 and beyond and they list the A318 as flying between DEN/LAX (Sat. only) and DEN/SEA (xSat). This may just be wishful thinking on Frontier's part but knowing that resourceful company the A318 may indeed be making it's U.S. debut in Denver in July.

Patrick,

From what it seems, the earliest time the 318 turns up in AF's Duesseldorf schedule is on Saturday, Jan 10. Do you find any earlier date? I am willing to make that booking, but only if I can be reasonably sure that I won't end up on a 735 or 319 because of a timetable change.  Smile

Hi Jens,

seems that January 10 is the first date when the AF A 318 shows up in DUS, it is not listed on previous days or on the previous weekend. Of course must it be 100% sure that it is an A 318, I also won`t end up on an other aircraft.

Don't have the exact date, but we are expecting the first F9 318 real soon around here. . .cameras are in hand! I'm sure some of the pro photographers will be in the Denver area to capture some of the F9 A318s first few operations.

Patrick,

From my experience of several year's travel on AF's DUS-CDG-DUS route, AF hardly ever changes its equipment once it is uploaded in the CRS. So I guess it is reasonably sure to assume Jan 10 as the first day.

According to Galileo, the cheap same day weekend fare (fare class N) is still wide open on Jan 10, so a 99 Euro return would be possible.

...the idea is starting to grow on me. In the worst case, it is a nice day trip to CDG plus another 2000 miles on my account. Big grin

I just looked on AF`s website, the A 318 is also confirmed there for January 10 and the fare is around 98 EUR, I think also that I will book on Sunday evening when I am back from LHR. And as you said, we get at least 2000 miles, even when there will be an equipment change.

7:25 is a little bit too early for a Saturday but the 10:50 flight to CDG sounds ok for me, than I have finally the chance to visit the city (I flew 8 time to CDG but I never left the airport, actually a shame!).

Patrick,

I was thinking the same. A six-hour layover in Paris will allow for about 2-3 hours downtown, so there's at least the chance to get a few first impressions of a wonderful city.  Smile Actually I've done exactly the same trip once before. By the time you're back home you have the distinct feeling that you have used the day to its fullest. Big grin

OK, I am going to book the 1050h outbound and the 1830h return for Sat, Jan 10 now. What about you? How about meeting at AF1307?

Ok lets fly the A 318, I will now book the following flights:

Saturday Jan. 10: AF1307 to CDG and AF2406 back to DUS. Better now before the fare will increase or (even worse) before there are no more seats available on the A 318 flight.
