As part of its cost cutting program, the seemingly hopeless Swiss flag carrier is cutting routes and flights out of Geneve-Cointrin Airport. Flights to Athens, Tunis, Casablanca, and Basle will be cut entirely. Swiss will no longer be the busiest carrier at GVA but will retain prestigious links to London, New York, Moscow, and other top European and North African cities as well as 10 shuttle flights to Zurich Kloten Airport.
Today's Tribune de Geneve claims that BA and EasyJet are now the busier carriers at GVA.

SWISS PRESS: Lufthansa Bids For Swiss Airline
Sunday July 13, 8:15 am ET
ZURICH -(Dow Jones)- Swiss International Air Lines Ltd. , known by its brand name Swiss, has received a takeover offer from Germany's Lufthansa , Swiss weekly Sonntagszeitung reported Sunday.
"We are talking to various companies on possible cooperation," Swiss spokesman Jean-Claude Clauzel told The Asssociated Press, reiterating earlier statements. He declined to disclose details on these talks.
The newspaper said Lufthansa's offer was made on the condition that the Swiss airline implements the radical restructuring that the airline annouced in June.
The German airline's spokesman, Bernd Hoffmann, told the Associated Press that he knew nothing about the proposal.
The newspaper also said the Swiss government and creditor banks are urging Swiss to accept the offer, but a spokeswoman for the Swiss government declined to comment.
