Not likely at present time..
The population base up there is fairly small, though there is a lot of tourist traffic in and out. Mesaba (more specifically, NW) has been dinking around with the flight schedules up there a lot lately, and fares are extremly high to both SAW and Houghton County.
At some point, I'm sure that things will pick up, especially depending on potential new tenants for the KI Sawyer facility. However, three airlines is about as much as that area will support.
It really is a nice facility though. The infrastructure (former AFB SAC) is in excellent condition, and it is a great improvement over the old MQT field.
If I may ask, what in the world prompted you to ask about Sawyer?? Especially being from San Deigo?!

Having spent a year there I wonder why anyone would want to visit. The last time I checked, the chamber of commerce bragged about the 100 days of sunshine per year. Now I don't know about ya'll but I like my 340 days per year.
I go apes**t after 2 days of clouds. Let alone 2 weeks. I guess perhaps that's why I live where I do. I love 110 degree temperatures and loathe anything less than 70.
Bonafide desert rat.
What is it with all the "is there a possibilty airline X will.." threads? The answer it'll is possible.

Some of us who can't stand living in the city like to visit places like that...
The weather isn't really -that- bad. The water in Lake Superior? Well, that's cold.
