Hey guys, serious topic here for a moment.
Today the company that my brother ramps for lost a Cessna 206. The pilot was fatally injured.
This particular airline is small 4 206's and a 172. Just a month ago, the co-owner was killed in a forklift accident, so it has been some very bad times for them. He had been a big wig with the local Volunteer Fire Department, which my brother is on, and that is how my brother came into his employ. He had just been hired permanently three days before that accident but had done some odd jobs for him at that shop the winter before.
I tried calling down there to see if there was anything that I could do for or say, he wasn't home of course but that didn't really surprise me.
I am going to try again tomorrow to reach him. I have had a couple close scrapes with my pilots bending metal where I work over the past three/six months, and know that the NTSB and FAA can be, well lets face it, real Arses.
But I was wondering if anybody out there has been in a similar situation and can key me in on any advice I can give him? It sounds like the pilot was trying to stick a landing when he should have come home based on what was reported in the news, which is 100% accurate
I just want to clue him in on any potential traps the feds may lay. I know that just being a new hired ramper he is very low down on the food chain but the feds do have the nasty habit of casting a wide net and scraping all life from the bottom of the sea.
