If KU will rely on originating traffic in Kuwait it will surely not be able to fill up a small Cessna aircraft. Therefore, the logical explanation is that they intend to open up the transit market (to the rest of the Gulf, the Indian Subcontinent and Far East) before Emirates does. I see a twice weekly flight to Toronto via London or Frankfurt as being promising. As a Montreal resident I have to admit it won't make money anyways!!

I would think too it would be Toronto surely as opposed to Montreal. It would be mostly transit pax...that goes without saying
As far as the Baghdad flights are concerned, interestingly my Kuwaiti friend who is sitting right next to me is quite surprised..according to my friend Kuwaitis are still not ready to travel to Iraq, owing to the scars of invasion in 1991, but however im sure this flight would take all the forerign dignitaries all the logistics people and all the businessmen that would be flooding into Iraq in the months to come...Kuwait being the closest of the cities to Baghdad would mean an ideal connection point to get into Baghdad.

If they start to Toronto I bet after a year they'll suspend service due to loses. Air Canada and STAR control all the connecting traffic and for pax continuing on to other smaller cities such as Calgary or Kansas City its better to connect through ORD then YYZ. Just like AI, RJ, and even TG, after continuing loses, senior management come to the conclusion that it is better to pull out and use the aircraft somewhere else! Too bad for me as I live in Toronto.
