Hello everybody,

some time ago, I started a similar thread about LH´s 1983 timetable, which turned out to be hugely popular.

An exemplary dinner in the First Class Senator Service looked like this, proudly presented in the "stomach timetable" (Magenflugplan):

Trepang soup

Grilled veal, champignons, potatoes, slads

And, as an example, I´ll go into more detail with the Buenos Aires routing, which was the longest flight with a total travel time of 34:35 hours:

Some ticket prices in DM - and bear in mind the average wage in 1956 was about 420 DM per month:

FRA-STR single 40, rtn 72

HAM-IDL single F 2009, rtn F 3615
single Y 1379, rtn Y 2481

DUS-LHR single 133, rtn 240

FRA-EZE single Y 3054, rtn Y 5498

Hope you enjoy it, feel free to ask any questions!

Many thanks for this, Airsicknessbag; how great it is to remember the time when aviation was a lot more civilised.

I have a Summer 1963 OAG, so I'll try and post some information from this; the main differences would be on intercontinental routes, when 707-430s had been introduced, with 720s on medium haul flights and Viscounts on short haul; the first 727-30s were introduced the following year.

At least I now have a rough idea of when LH stopped the 430 service into MAN as all books I've got just state that 1956 saw the service started but it was withdrawn later that year!
