There isn't really demand for them at JFK. They are one of the biggest at LGA, and that suits them just fine. They had JFK service up until a few years ago, and dropped it because it wasn't worthwhile.

USAir (not US Airways) actually used to serve JFK. They had flights from Pittsburgh as well as "The Concorde Connection." During the era of British Airways' partial ownership of USAir, the Concorde Connection was a Dash-8 service that connected Washington National with JFK. It was supposedly a "luxury" service with champagne designed for passengers connecting to BA Concorde flights.
They are not the only US major to have avoided JFK. Continental now serves JFK with CO Express flights to Cleveland, but that's quite a recent development. Likewise, Northwest used to only offer flights to Narita and Amsterdam, during the past five years, they introduced domestic service to Detroit.
