What international airline has the best economy class service? At the moment, I would have to say Singapore Airlines or KLM. What's the best airline to take coach on to/fro Europe and USA? Asia and USA?

Cathay Pacific in coach. Fast and friendly service. I don't think I've ever seen a CX FA look inconvenienced when asked for a request. They always seem willing to help.

Its better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air than be in the air wishing you were on the ground. Fly safe!

KE was awfully good when I flew from DFW to ICN and from ICN to JFK.
I was so impressed by the cabin staff. So helpful and friendly, unlike the Major domestic carriers cabin staff in the US.

SIA of course ! They used to fly JFK to BRU on their way to Singapore. There was also a AMS-FCO flight twice a week where they pampered their Y class passengers with full intercontinental service and of course Europe/USA to Asia and Australia. New planes, individual screens, footrests, 32in legroom and last but not least the Singapore Girl.

CX is also a very good choice from the check-in to the certainty of picking-up your luggage at destination with no mistakes.

LX is also a very good choice. Swiss precision and attentive service.

BA is also among my favourites.

Unfortunately no American carriers provide good and attentive services nowadays. I hope this changes soon.

Aloha Airlines is an American carrier that does provide good attentive service. Since they fly to the Marshall Islands and Rarotonga, I will mention them too as an airline with good economy service. In Fact they won the Diamond Award for Inflight Service for 2003.

Yeah, I would agree that Swiss AL has excellent service, and BA as well. I remember that Swiss A330 planes had individual TVs in economy class - plus, RECENT movies were showing, unlike many airlines who show old films from many years ago. BA had a meal menu in coach - another great thing. But I must say, that no airline can top Singapore Airlines - it has marked itself as the epitome of excellent customer/passenger service  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

If you want to see the meal services for the various airlines, go to www.airlinemeals.net. Very interesting "fare," indeed...

If you count WT+ as Economy service, then I'd say that BA wins hands down.

Very subjective.

Personal favourites are Virgin, Emirates and Singapore. Korean has great seat pitch (34") and good-natured crew, but their English is terrible.

BA are consistently "good" but not up there with "stunning".

Iberia and Alitalia - very average, but not a total disaster.

MALAYSIA AIRLINES (MH)

Great service that comes from the world's best cabin crew. Comfortable 34" seat pitch for the economy seat. Great FAs, food, IFE, and aircraft. Ranked the world's best cabin crew 3 years in a row by Skytrax. Won the Conde Nest award as well.

I thought the service on Air France was very good when I flew them last month! The flight attendants were very friendly and polite and didn't hesitate to help you when you asked them for something.
I have heard from a few of my Dad's friends that travel internationally say that they thought the service on Singapore Airlines was the best.

Korean Air, Singapore Airlines, Asiana Airlines and KLM have the best service, at least from my experience, but Cathay Pacific should have the best service in the world.. but I have not flown on them.

Do check out that http://www.airlinemeals.net and read the posts. MY GOD what a bunch of whiners and complainers! Change the name to "Nothingintheworldwillsatisfyusever.com!

Quite humorous, and informative regarding what airlines are up against.

Was very impressed with Air New Zealand when I flew their AKL-RAR-PPT-LAX B767 service late last year, as well as the B747-400 service on from LAX to LHR. Very attentive and friendly cabin crew in economy, meals were fine and the cabin crew working our part of the ecomony cabin even remembered my other half was drinking the Merlot wine rather than the Cabernet Sauvignon !!
Other airline economy class service I have been impressed with are Emirates, Cathay, Singapore and Malaysian. Virgin Atlantic was fine as were some of the North American carriers. I know others will beg to differ, but I haven't had a major problem with the economy service across the Atlantic on either Air Canada, Northwest, United, US Airways or American.
Although, as a personal observation, I have found the economy service of the 'Asian' carriers I have flown with to be somewhat superior to most of the others.
