I just wanted to let you know that the GTAA is looking for Volunteers to help with the activation of the new Terminal Building. As part of the commissioning process for all the new buildings the GTAA will be running trials in the new building to test various aspects of the facility. Volunteers will simulate passengers and employees working or using the New Terminal, and help to make sure that everything will be up to snuff on opening day, and to identify any short comings with the terminal. This is a great chance for people to get a first look at the new building, and see some behind the scenes stuff that most passengers do not get to see. All volunteers will receive a commemorative memento.
This is a great opportunity to get involved in the airport community, and I hope to see you all there. If you are interested please go to : http://www.gtaa.com/airportvolunteer/
And fill out the form with your details, and someone will get back to you with dates and times for the trials, for the most part they will run from the end of July to Mid September/Early October.

I signed up in April. This was the response I received:
Thank you for your response to our campaign of acquiring volunteers for the trials of the systems at the new terminal, T1-New.
The actual trials will begin sometime around June; the exact dates are dependant upon the completion of various components of the new terminal. The call for volunteers has gone out at this stage to determine the response to the request.
Typically, the volunteers will play the role of actual passengers. From entering the terminal, traversing through the departures level, right to embarking and disembarking, they will perform the tasks typical of passengers once the terminal opens in October of this year.
We will be in contact with those individuals who have expressed and interest in taking part in these trials as the date draws nearer. This will most likely be done via email, phone, or possibly by employee newsletters.
In the meantime, we still need a few bags for the baggage system trials. Donations will be made to the United Way by the GTAA based on the number of bags collected, and all useable bags that remain after testing shall be donated to Goodwill. Drop off locations for any type of baggage are in the parking lot of the GTAA Administration Building at 3111 Convair Drive at Toronto Pearson International Airport, or at the employee parking lot at 6135 Airport Road, Lot 6a, also at Toronto Pearson.
Thanks again for your interest; we will be in contact with you shortly.
Have not heard anything since.
