I was out running near LAX on 7/16 and was watching a Delta 76 on short final, when all of a sudden it did a sharp 180 and seemed like it continued decending. I lost sight of it behind a building and fully expected to see a mushroom cloud, when I got back to the hotel I put on CNN and nothing.
When I got home I went to the Passur flight tracker and it showed the plane did a really tight 360 before landing on the same runway it was approaching earlier. The reason it unnerved me was I watch the planes all the time on my runs and LA seems to have a higher than average go around rate than other places. This was the first time that I had ever seen one veer off approach like that, usually they just power up, pull up the gear and fly straight out over the ocean.
For those of you with the Passur flight tracker this happened at 1257, it was a Delta 763 and it was landing on one of the south runways.

Strange indeed... That shows flight 1964, which I flew a couple of weeks ago. The flight is supposed to go LAX - ATL. The Passur systems shows LAX - LAX so there must have been something else wrong with this flight. It would be very interesting to talk to someone who was on the flight.
