It is rumored that tommorrow is the last day for N679AN in the Retrojet livery. Supposedly it is time for a D-check and it will be ferried to TUL tommorrow night where it might be repainted in standard AA colors, as well.

Here's N679AN's tenative schedule for tommorrow (although it probably will not change):

AA2245 DCA 636A DFW 835A
AA487 DFW 940A PDX 1124A
AA300 PDX 1226P DFW 558P
Ferried at 7:29PM to TUL
(thanks to BP for this information)

If this is true, I'll miss seeing this aircraft at DFW, it was one of the few treats we would get at DFW.  Sad

I'm glad I got this one in my book. It was always great to see RetroJet (either the 737 or 757), I think that this livery is a lot better looking than their current one. Hopefully, AA will keep it around.

I only got to see it just a few times. I'm gonna miss it if they are repainting it.

As much as I love the standard AA livery, this is one fantastic looking plane. I'm only sorry I never got to see it in person, much less fly in it.

That sucks. I love that plane. I just saw it a JFK a few days ago, and it looked great.

I like the c/s so hopefully it will emerge from D-check as a 'retrojet' or another 75 will replace it. I wouldn't mind seeing more retrojets!

Saw it fly over my head outside a hotel near O'Hare. Pretty, pretty bird.

Its true. I am going to go out today and hopefully and finally nail that bird and get some good shots of it at DFW. Since it is coming in from PDX, hopefully it will land on the west side runway at DFW.

NOOOO!!!! Don't repaint the Retrojet. That is a classic livery and much better than the current boring one.

Well JCS17 really struck out yesterday trying to get it. He wanted to get BA comming in, then go to the other side of the airport to get it on approach from SJO. But he missed it. Aw! Haha! Maybe next time Joshy boy.

Is it confirmed that it will go? Sure hope not... one of the most beautiful liveries out there! I say paint the whole fleet in that c/s with different colours. That'd be nice Big grin

I'd like to see it coming into TUL..does this mean it leaves DFW at 7:29? or Arrives in TUL at 7:29? We have a daily 757 flight leaving around that time, why does it need to be ferried?

I was lucky enough to see her parked next to their 737 retro at MIA with no other current-livery AA aircraft in the background for a few minutes. Now THAT was nostalgia! I love the graphics. Wish they could have painted the "Boeing gray" areas with the silver that John Travolta used to restore his Qantas 707...Jack

Well Josh Rawlin, myself and Brian Peters went out there to see AA flight # 300 arrive from PDX. However, the flight arrived, but it wasn't in the RetroJet scheme. UGH !! I don't know what happened to the plane...........

Maybe it got stuck in Area 51, that top secret area in Utah? But it did not show up in DFW this afternoon...........

you do know that they can save about 1000 lbs in weight on a plane the size of a 737, maybe 1500 lbs on a 757 and as much as 3000 lbs on a 747 by just keeping it in the retro scheme. i also think it looks better then the current one. but i kinda like the older styles and planes, wish i were born 50 years ago! Big grin

Anyone else there? I was on the 10L/28R, so I didn't see it, just a glint in the distance, wasn't really sure if it was in standard scheme or not. defintealy was AA300, though.

D checks take many more than three days... If it was spotted in ORD today, and if it is indeed due for a D-check, the check must have been deferred.
