The biggest domestic carrier of India is planning to order Boeing 717-200 and 737-600 aircraft !!!!
Indian Airlines currently has a fleet of Airbus A300-600, A320-200 and Boeing 737-300 aircraft and flies domestic India and flies to Pakistan, Kuwait, Singapre, Kuala Lumper and Bangkok.
Indian Airlines is kinda like a regional airline to Air India.
The airlines of India are planning to replace there fleet by years end. Jet Airways, India's largest private owned airlines has a fleet of 737-300, 737-400, 737-600 and is getting the new 737-800 delivered to them. Air India is planning to order either the 767-400, 777-200, A310-300 or A330-200.

That is great news for Indian Airlines. The planes they chose are great aircraft and highly profitable on the routes they will be used on. I hope Air India goes with the 767/777s.

I dont think they will order yet, due to money problems, and if they do I think they will go for Airbus due to the fact that India makes parts for Airbus like the doors and stuff. So I think they are going to buy A318 or A319 and a couple of A330-200 or either A310 which they are very happy with.
Ps. Air India sold or leased out a 747-200 to lease some more A310's. -Flight International.

Just lets wait and see. They truly have no effiliation with either the U.S.A or Airbus nations. They also operate a LARGE fleet of B747s. Boeing will want to sell their complimentary goods to a good customer.
