I have to say, its so beautiful, I cant believe it when I see it.

They rarely turn the tail light on.

Have seen it now twice.

I feel like taking out a camera and taking a picture.

Personally, I think it's more beautiful when I see her with her headlights on  Wink/being sarcastic

It's not a question of turning the logo light on, it's more like the logo lights are disabled.

I know when I was at JFK pre 9/11 you'd see 777's and the occasional 737 with the logo lights on during a night taxi, and it always looked sharp.

Personally I would have liked the company to not disable the logo lights, but such is the nature of things.

Yes, I actually *do* work for an airline, how about you?

But why is this option disabled?

Are those pilots that turn it on, doing something incorrect?

It looks beautiful, so, thats nothing wrong.

Btw, does anyone know whether AA will attach the US flag to the wings of its aircraft this year when they are standing at the gate on September 11th? They did it last year on a 777 in Frankfurt and it was really cool - especially since I was on the apron - but unfortunately I did not have a camera on me (and besides I am a lousy photographer).

Logo lights are an option on most Boeing aircraft. For whatever reason AA chose not to install them on factory ordered 757/767s, however the 777 and 737-800s all have them. The 757/767 line first flew without them, however retrofits are available (notable on the 757 as they add a diamond shaped fairing to the rear of the wingtip, same as the 707/727/737/DC-10 options, America West has this on their 757s).
There are some lovely shots on a.net of aircraft illuminated at night:
