Okay spotters....tell me what I just saw, because I don't know.
I was outside having a smoke, and an MD-11 just flew overhead, northbound, on approach from the south, heading towards LAX (I am in western Orange County).
I did not recognize the livery.
But it was for sure an MD-11. The belly was dark blue. The upper half of the fuselage was white. The tail was the same shade of dark blue. Their appeared to be a yellow or gold colored emblem on the tail.
What MD-11 comes from the south to LAX at about 0745 PST?

I know when I was at LAX and Varig flies in there with MD-11s. The white fuselage, dark blue tail and gold emblem, plus the fact that the plane was approaching from the south would point out that the plane if Varig.
The best thing to do to find out would be go to
http://www4.passur.com/lax.html
type in the date and time about when you saw it, open the up the page to however many miles the airport is from your home and see if that indeed is the plane and then watch it land at the airport
