Was looking to book Delta Business Class from Atlanta to San Salvador on September 12. Much to my surprise, from September 1, Delta will only have 737-800's with economy class seats, not with Business Class cabin.
I checked their other routes out of Atlanta to Central America (Guatemala City, San Jose, Cancun, Panama and Business Class is still there. Anyone know why Delta is only flying planes with coach class to San Salvador?

One thing you should definitely watch for, is that Delta (and probably OALs too) markets their first class seats as business class on some flights using 757s. Just keep that in mind, because you might think you're getting Business Elite, but you aren't!

Just a guess, in some medium-range markets, 2 class aircraft are sold as First/Economy and in other markets, the same 2 class aircraft will be sold Business/Economy....exact same aircraft, exact same seats, just depends on marketing, fares, and what the competition is doing.
This issue comes up from time to time with AA flights to the Carib, Central America, Venezuela and Colombia operated with 738, 757 and A300 aircraft.

Not very many people purchase the business class product, and SAL usually goes oversold in Y/C at 138 seats. I have worked a SAL flight in the past that was oversold by 80 and we went out with a few seats still available.
There seems to be a lot of ticket flexibility for DL's Latin American flights, hence the high no show factor. Why not use a shuttle a/c and sell 150 y/c seats rather than upgrade a lot of people into B/C because coach was oversold.

Thanks, EXUSAIR and BESTWESTERN. Hard to believe they can oversell the ATL-SAL by 80 pax and still leave with empty seats. Although no C class available at least the seat pitch will be good in coach. Glad DL flies to SAL. I can leave MSP at zero-dark thirty in the morning and be there in time for lunch!
