LCC And Full Service Inter-operability?

Am I correct in assuming that since LCC operators operate mainly point-to-point it is not possible to book to onward destinations with full-cost carriers (and vv)? For example: If I wish to fly MEL - EMA and can fly MEL-CDG with QF, can I on-ticket to EMA with WW?
