I was reading how the 717 has a 91% on-time departure percentage or something.

It just seems like if a plane departs on time, people credit the plane. WHY?

Aren't most delays due to long taxiways waits and other things pertianing to grond operations? What percentage of delays are actually due to aircraft mechanical problems?

You'd be surprised Phil. The 717 would have more than 91% if it didn't need so much assistance from the MA-1A.

You are probably referring either to the "dispatch reliability factor" or the "completion rate", both of which are directly dependant upon the specific aircraft type and independant of non-technical factors for the most part.

Ground operations has nothing to do with long taxiing! Ground operations starts as soon as the aircraft has set the parking brake and ends with a completed push-back!

I wasn't connecting the two. I said them separately.

No, "and" was correct. My error was in using the word "other" which implied the latter and the next as being related.

Now for homework, read "Catcher in the Rye" and write a 4 page theme.
