Ever since I moved down here I had been going to this one location at MCO, over on the north side off of Cargo Road near the threshold to Runway 17(?) the eastern runway. There is a little parking area that looks like a special access entrance to the AOA there. I never had a problem, saw cops pass by a lot and they didn't bug me.

Today I happened to be going on the road through the airport that becomes 436 Semoran. I was coming back from Kissimee so I took the usualy short cup through the airport. I happened to see one of the Virgin 744s lining up for take off so I got off at Cargo Road and went to that spot. I waited 15 minutes for a couple of Southwest 733s and a Jet Blue A320 to land and a USAirways A320, Southwest 733 and a Spirit MD-80 to take off before it. Finally the 744 took off. Suddenly a white GM car with a black O on it pulls in right behind me.

I went and popped the hood of my truck and pretended their was something wrong with my truck and I started checking the fluids.

A female rent a cop she was wearing a green shirt gets out and tells me there is no parking along the fence.

I told her I wasn't parking, I was having problems with my truck. She told me I had to leave now. (she knew i was lying because I was watching the 747 take off as she pulled in). But she wasn't a real cop or one of those TSA idiots or even Ops so I felt I could mess with her a little bit.

I made her happy, I closed my hood and left. I saw what I wanted to see, that 747 take off.

Thats my new trick to staying there longer, pretend I have car troubles. I used to do that at DTW when I lived up in Detroit. Its pointless arguing with someone who doesn't have more than a highschool education if that.

Not so good . . . such folks are only doing their job. Given the recent government suggestions you can expect more scrutiny. Also, a popped hood is a sure way of attracting attention - usually welcomed in the case of car problems.

Try not to antagonize the Orlando airport enforcers too much so that we all may enjoy what is left of spotting in the milieu.

As far as questioning an education level - can you honestly ascertain that Micah?

I didn't pop the hood till she got there. I used to do that in Detroit along Goddard Road after they closed Checkpoint 6 at DTW. If I saw a plane I wanted to see land coming on approach when I was driving by I would stop, pop the hood and pretend to be working on my car or truck. Cops would drive by and not even stop to help- that was the DTW cops for ya.

As for antagonizing them, i don't bother doing that anymore. You can't argue with them like you used to be able to, all they have to say is 9-11 and they have a valid argument.

Although I could have brought up at that specific location at MCO, there aren't ANY No Parking signs.

That is simply out of curiosity. A civil woman arrives and tells you to go away?
We need to get organized guys.

"She was wearing a green shirt."
Are you sure she wasn't an Orange County Sheriff's Deputy?

If she was Orange County Sheriff's Deputy, sounds like she wasn't wearing a badge or such. I guess I don't see how spotting at the airport is any different than going to the fast food restaurant off the airport property and watching. What because the plane is 500 feet higher 30secs off of the airport property it doesn't matter. These double standards couldn't come from anyone other than the Government.

She wasn't driving a cop car.

She was driving a little white Grand Am with I believe a black O on the side of it. She had a radio and looked like a security type person, she had a red patch or something. I didn't look at her much and I couldn't see the best yesterday. I had dropped my buddy off after work and went to his place and he has cats and it got my eyes all watery.

Nah she wasn't just any civil woman. She was some kind of security personnel and she could have radioed in the cops if i refused and I really don't want to deal with the real cops. If she was just any old person like some law abiding suck @$$ that likes to brownose cops and go on power trips she would have gotten a much different reaction.

Besides, I saw what I wanted to see the Virgin 744 take off over me, so in the long run I won.
